Hold That Thought helps you capture ideas quickly. We keep things simple and transparent about what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you stay in control.

What we collect

Voice recordings you capture in the app so we can transcribe and summarize them for you.
Transcripts and AI-generated summaries created from those recordings to make your thoughts searchable.
Optional sync metadata (such as timestamps, device IDs, and retry status) needed to keep your thoughts consistent across devices.

How we use your data

To power features like transcription, summaries, and search.
To provide optional cloud backup and cross-device sync through Supabase.
To understand anonymized app health and error reports so we can fix bugs and improve reliability.

Third-party processing

OpenAI may process transcripts and summaries when you trigger AI-powered features. We send only the minimum text required to fulfill your request.
Supabase stores synced recordings, transcripts, summaries, and associated metadata when you enable cloud sync.
Both providers operate under their own privacy policies and security controls.

Your choices

Delete anytime: Remove recordings or transcripts in-app and we delete them from local storage and, if sync is enabled, from Supabase.
Export your ideas: Use the export tools in Settings to download your recordings and summaries.
Use offline: Recording and transcription work offline; queued sync requests wait until you’re connected again.
Opt out of cloud sync: Keep everything on-device by leaving sync disabled. You can enable or disable sync at any time.

Data retention & security

Local files stay on your device unless you delete the app or clear data.
Synced content remains in Supabase until you delete it or close your account.
We encrypt data in transit, and Supabase encrypts data at rest. Keystore credentials remain on your device.
